Tabaka, GHC's third village in Kisii District, is small, with only 1500 inhabitants. We began this CHEC in January 2021 and built the apiary in the fall of 2021. Since the number of CHEC members was relatively small, we started the apiary with only 10 hives. Soon however, it became clear that bees love the area around Tabaka. All 10 hives colonized quickly and the honey bees consistently produce copious amounts of honey. The flora around the village is lush and dense, full of flowering trees and a small river. This small apiary has been the most successful for Greener Hills, and we have plans to add onto the existing apiary and introduce more hives.
This apiary may be small but the colonies are strong!
